Haida Gwaii is a remote archipelago off the coast of northern British Columbia that is known for having some of the best salmon fishing in the world. Try catching a chinook salmon, which is known as the "trophy fish" of British Columbia sports fishing. Professionals suggest going to Langara Island, which is just south of Alaska and is where salmon usually head for streams. Rockfish, halibut, sockeye salmon from the Fraser River, red snapper, and other fish are also available here.

Skeena River

The Skeena River is the second-largest river system in British Columbia. The river is well-known for its excellent steelhead and salmon fishing from spring to fall. Summer is the best time to visit. The steelhead is a well-known fish from British Columbia. It is difficult to catch and is considered one of the most elusive game fish in the world.

Campbell River

For more than a century, Campbell River has been known as the world's salmon fishing capital. Every year, millions of migrating salmon travel through the Discovery Passage in the region to spawn in their birth river. There are four seasons of fishing on the river, with salmon fishing popular from May to November and winter steelhead and cutthroat trout fishing. Additionally, there is the Discovery Pier, which was the first saltwater fishing pier in Canada.

Quesnel Lake

Quesnel Lake is one of the deepest fjord lakes in the world and can be found in eastern British Columbia. It has three arms, each of which provides a unique experience. The four seasons of trolling, casting, and fly fishing at Quesnel Lake are also well-known, but locals recommend visiting in May; When there are fewer anglers and the fish are starving, this is the time. Some of the best trout fishing in the province can be found in the bays of the west arm, particularly for bull and rainbow trout.

Fraser River

The largest river system in British Columbia is the Fraser River. Salmon, trout, and steelhead inhabit its fertile waters, and between 20 and 50 million salmon pass through the river each year. Williston Lake

The largest lake in British Columbia is Williston Lake, which can be found in northern BC. It is a lake made by humans that joins three rivers: the Finlay, Peace, and Parsnip Rivers. In the Peace River Valley, visitors will be able to catch rainbow trout, kokanee, lake trout, sockeye salmon, and northern pike.

Dean River

Dean River, located in central British Columbia, is another popular destination for steelhead fishing. It is regarded as a treasure by many and is one of the most well-managed rivers in the world. The river is home to rainbow trout, halibut, lingcod, rockfish, and all types of salmon (including chinook, coho, and sockeye). In late spring, when the steelhead are headed for the Takia River, the Dean River hosts its two primary steelhead runs. A couple of weeks later, there is a second run.

Elk River

Elk River is a world-class destination for dry fly fishing in southeastern British Columbia, close to Fernie and surrounded by the Canadian Rockies. You can probably guess what kind of fish are in the Elk River—westslope cutthroat trout and bull trout—from its name, Trout Town. The Elk River's trout-catching season, which runs from July to October, is ideal for floating, according to knowledgeable local anglers.
