The Tree River has the all-tackle world record of 32 pounds and produces the largest Arctic char in the world! Every summer, a few dozen char with weights in the 20s are caught, and 8- to 12-pound fish are common. The Tree River Outpost is just 4 miles from the Arctic Ocean and 232 miles northeast of Great Bear Lake Lodge, within the Arctic Circle. It can only be reached by floatplane.
